RAGGED ROAD

Anyone who knows me knows that I’m a big fan of web series and a big fan of music.  When they come together in an awesome fashion, I find myself unable to turn away!  Our friends at M80 contacted us on behalf of Macy’s to point you in the direction of their new documentary series RAGGED ROAD.  The webisodes follow five music students as they travel across the country meeting artists, producers, promoters, DJs, writers, talent scouts, managers, and label executives who will share their thoughts and offer advice.

The first webisode went live today, and as the series goes, you can access them from the RAGGED ROAD youtube channel (here).

Click more for the first episode, and check back throughout the weeks for more info on the series! Read the rest of this entry »

SCARE TACTICS Back Tonight

Don’t forget to tune into Sci Fi tonight at 10 for the second-half-of-the-season premiere of the SCARE TACTICS, featuring Tracy Morgan as the host.

Tonight, a taxi driver hits a guy and leaves him for dead.  There is some child trading in a junkyard.  The phrase ”drinks the kool-aid” is used to fabulous effect, and there is some sick cloning going on!

Here is the video from when VH1 ranked SCARE TACTICS’ Rat Monster episode #1 in their 40 greatest pranks episode (featuring my buddy G as the Rat Monster and one of my favorite people, Scott, talking about the episode):

Tune in and let us know what you think!

*Special thanks to S, T, and G for being awesome!

TVx3 E002: Old Faces, New Places

We’re back!!  In our second episode, we go over some of the latest TV news like the CW ordering a full season of 90210, Diane Ruggerio working with Rob Thomas again on Cupid, and the latest in casting news. Then we delve into our topic of the week which is a discussion of when we have trouble seeing some of our favorite actors in new roles. Our most recent example being Joshua Jackson and how hard it is to separate his new character on Fringe, Peter Bishop, from his Dawson’s Creek persona, Pacey Witter. We talk about several other examples such as Alyson Hannigan, David Boreanaz, Emily VanCamp, Hugh Laurie, Jason Dohring, etc. We explore several other aspects of the topic as well. Finally, we finish up with a primetime wrap-up from last week touching on the return of The Big Bang Theory and How I Met Your Mother as well as our new found love for Privileged and our immediate dismissal of Knight Rider. Other shows in our talk include The Emmys, Heroes, Terminator: Sarah Connor Chronicles, Prison Break, The Mentalist, House, Bones, and My Name is Earl.

TVx3 E001: Goodbye Summer, Hello Fall

Our inaugural podcast is live!  I got together with Rae and Jason to talk about all things TV!

Right off the bat we had so much to say we had to split our first episode into two parts! In the first part, we start with a quick introduction to each of us (Jason, Amrie, & Rae) and how our obsession with television began and what made us into the TV bloggers that we are today. Then we talked about some TV news including recent headlines, casting information, and show pickups. And we finished up with a fond look back at the shows we watched over the summer from new shows like The Secret Life of an American Teenager and In Plain Sight to some of our old favorites such as Burn Notice, Psych, Eureka, and many more.

In Part 2, once we said goodbye to our summer favorites, it was time to tackle Fall TV. Here, we take an in-depth look at the TV schedule for the new season day by day. We share our thoughts on the shows that’ve already begun like 90210, Gossip Girl, Privileged, Fringe, Smallville, and Supernatural. We compared notes on which returning shows we’re most looking forward to like Chuck, Pushing Daisies, and others. And we talked a bit about the new shows on the block including Knight Rider, Worst Week, and The Ex List. It’s a Fall TV bonanza of a podcast.

TV by the Books – How To Teach Filthy Rich Girls (AKA Privileged)

One of my favorite new shows of the season is The CW’s PRIVILEGED, starring the sparkling Joanna Garcia as Megan Smith, a Yale graduate hired to tutor spoiled rich kids Rose and Sage in sunny Florida.  In the show, Megan hails from Florida (her old friend Charlie works at the local surfer restaurant), she doesn’t get along with her sister Lily, and she’s quite beautiful.

The show is (loosely) based on a book by best-selling auther Zoey Dean, originally published as ”How To Teach Filthy Rich Girls.”  The book is an easy read – once I started, I honestly couldn’t put it down.  I stopped watching TV for a few hours to pore through the story of a girl from Yale (still Megan Smith) who grew up in the country with compost heap making parents, and an actress sister with whom she is very close.  Megan loses her job at a trashy magazine after her ideas aren’t Hollywood starlet related enough and she’s not sure where that leaves her. What’s On Monday 9/22?

Happy Autumn, TV fans!  Tonight is ridiculous with the premieres, and the new episodes of shows that premiered earlier.  I have so many DVRs set tonight that it’s pure insanity!  ABC is billing this week “National Stay at Home Week” and I can see why.  We’re at the heart of TV viewing this week with just about everything airing in the next seven days!

On ABC:  DANCING WITH THE STARS’ 2 hour premiere is tonight at 8.  I haven’t seen anyone dance, but my front runners are totally Misty May and Lance Bass (because he’s dancing with Lacey).  DWTS is followed by a really strong final season premiere for BOSTON LEGAL.

On CBS:  A big night of premieres over on the eye network.  Starting at 8, the boys and Penny are back with a very solid episode of THE BIG BANG THEORYHOW I MET YOUR MOTHER is back with a laugh out loud kind of episode at 8:30.  I don’t watch it, but maybe some of you are interested to hear that TWO AND A HALF MEN is back tonight at 9.  If I were you, I’d skip WORST WEEK at 9:30, but curiosity might get the better of you!  CSI: MIAMI rounds out the all new night with an intricate “whodunnit” at 10!

On NBC:  It’s all HEROES, all the time tonight on NBC! Just Jody from Canada says that the first hour of the three hour event (airing at 8PM) is just one giant ad for the show, and isn’t worth watching.  I’ve seen the first hour of the brand new 2-hour premiere, and I’m back on the HEROES bandwagon so far.  I’ll wait until the second hour to judge!

On The CW:  Jusy Jody also says that tonight’s all new GOSSIP GIRL (waves to Canadians who get to see US shows early) is a bit of a game changer.  Oh, and Kelly Rutherford is finally back in tonight’s ’sode!  Check it out at 8 and see what you think!  ONE TREE HILL is still dealing with the loss of Q, and it sounds like Haley is starting to finally wonder where on earth Dan has been!

On FOX: It’s TV with Dad night for me as I head to his house to watch TERMINATOR: THE SARAH CONNOR CHRONICLES and PRISON BREAK.  On T:TSCC, Sonya Walger (LOST’s Penny) is back as Charley’s wife and she’s in a pickle!  On PB, they do more stuff with the cards, and I hear someone’s getting a little tortured…

On TNT: An all new episode of RAISING THE BAR – this is the first episode of the show that I haven’t had the chance to view previously, so I’m definitely setting the DVR to see what happens!

On MTV: THE HILLS is all new tonight too, which begs the question – why do we still care about the LC / Heidi non-relationship?  Hasn’t it been 2 years or something?

What are you all watching tonight?
