TVx3 Reality Break #1: Laughing at Other People’s Pain
Enjoy this bonus edition of our regular TVx3 podcast in which Rae and I attempt to take a quick reality break and discover that we have just too much to say (who me? NEVER)!
It’s all the latest in reality as we talk about how we’re liking the new season of Top Chef now that we’ve had two episodes to get to know the newest batch of chefs. I explain why I’m really enjoying how events are unfolding on Survivor. Then we tackle two weeks of The Amazing Race, quickly going over the highlights from the last two legs as well as discussing the previews for next week’s leg and picking our teams for who will be Team #1. Plus, I obviously couldn’t resist mentioning a small moment from the latest Ghost Hunters episode.
What’d you think of your reality shows last week? Give our listener line a call at 213-985-3176 and let us know!

THE L WORD First Look
Straight from our friends at Showtime, someone is going down in the first two minutes of this season’s premiere. Minds out of the gutters, ladies and gentlemen! They’re going down, as in, the law is out to get them, and this year, the law, as they say, is Lawless as Lucy Lawless joins our sapphic friends!
Check out the first 30 seconds of the opener here: http://bit.ly/WhoIsGoingDown
Don’t forget, the final season premieres January 18 at 9PM ET/PT!
TVx3 E009: TV Leftovers
We’re back and we’re talking about where reruns have gone on network TV and, with Thanksgiving just days away, we each come up with a list of TV characters we’d invite to join us for our turkey dinners. Would you rather attend Rae’s comedy bash with almost every TV cast on TV in West Palm or show up at my house where the Piemaker will be providing dessert? We also get into the latest TV news including Tim Kring’s recent comments about DVRs ruining serialized TV, Shondra Rhimes insisting the current Izzie/Denny storyline is one of Grey’s Anatomy’s best, and the recent (sad) cancellations of Pushing Daisies, Dirty Sexy Money, and Eli Stone. Then we wrapped up with discussions of last week’s Desperate Housewives, Chuck, Life, Pushing Daisies, Grey’s Anatomy, It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia, and Ugly Betty.
We’ll be off next week for the holiday but we’ll be back the week after that with an all new episode! Give our listener line a call at 213-985-3176 or email us and let us know your thoughts on TV this week and/or your ideas for holiday gifts for TV lovers and we’ll include your thoughts in our next episode.

We’re also on Itunes (we’d love it if you provided some feedback)! ![]()

EI: Carrie Ann Inaba and Colbie Caillat
I don’t know about you, but I’m turning into the American Music Awards tonight for a variety of reasons. NKOTB being one of the biggest, for sure. I had a chance to talk with Carrie Ann Inaba (she’s hosting the Live Red Carpet show before hand) and nominee and presenter Colbie Caillat about a variety of things, most of all, why exactly you should be watching!
Amrie: Carrie Ann, let’s start with you. What are you most excited about for the Red Carpet?
CAI: I guess I’m really excited, because it’s my first time hosting and I’m cohosting with Chris Harrison who is an old pro from THE BACHELOR, and it’s going to be a really fantastic show. Everybody knows that on the red carpet, that’s where all the excitement happens. I know the show is going to be fantastic and they’ve got great performers, but the red carpt is when everybody’s nervous and there’s an indescribable energy that kind of happens on the red carpet that we hope to capture. ABC not picking up PUSHING DAISIES, DIRTY SEXY MONEY, or ELI STONE
I was a bit too sad to talk about this yet yesterday afternoon when I heard the news that, officially, the “back-9 options” for 3 of ABC’s most interesting and well done shows were not picked up. Yes, folks, we will only get 13 episodes of PUSHING DAISIES, DIRTY SEXY MONEY, and ELI STONE this season. That is, if we see them all.
And that’s not to say I didn’t see this coming, but still. It sucks, because they are some serious can’t miss TV shows. What will I do without my Frere Piemaker fix each week?
PUSHING DAISIES creator (and genius man) Bryan Fuller is telling people like E!’s Kristin Dos Santos that he’s looking for options to finish the series in a comic book or movie format! I would totally be first in line for either!
What’s your take?
Exclusive Interview: Kevin McKidd from GREY’S ANATOMY
Forget McDreamy. Forget McSteamy. There is a new doctor in town – Seattle Grace’s newest Head of Trauma is all you need! I had the opportunity to spend some time with Major Owen Hunt himself – Kevin McKidd, and if he wasn’t already the reason I was tuning into GREY’S this season, he would be now (the only drawback to his character is the fact that he has to hide his amazing accent)! Read on to hear about why he loves this character, why you should too, and what he thinks his “Mc” nickname should be!
What originally interested you about the character of Owen Hunt?
When I first heard the idea of bringing a trauma surgeon to GREY’S ANATOMY, I thought it was a really interesting one. For many reasons, I think it’s important to tell that story, about what’s going on. And care given to people in war zones, like Afghanistan and Iraq. I think it’s a story that hasn’t really been told, especially on a primetime TV drama. I think it’s a brave thing of ABC and GREY’S ANATOMY to do, to introduce someone who could have just been just a normal surgeon, but they decided to go the extra mile and explore this. And I just like the idea of this guy who is kind of self sufficient and he knows his own mind, and doesn’t want to get involved with other people. He just wants to get through his business, but he’s also not fully together right now because of what’s happened, he’s been through traumatic things in Iraq. And also, the level of trauma you see when you’re there as a surgeon, you see more trauma with one tour in Iraq than any trauma surgeon would see in a whole career. I just thought it was a really interesting character to explore, you know? Read the rest of this entry »
CUPID trailer
The trailer for my most awaited spring show, CUPID, is making the rounds. In a fresh (albeit it virtually identical) take on his own cancelled series, Rob Thomas (creator of VERONICA MARS, not the MATCHBOX TWENTY guy) has gotten everyman Bobby Cannavale and the pretty amazing Sarah Paulson to play the roles made “famous” by The Pivs (Jeremy Piven) and Paula Marshall (Notorious Show Killer now making it work on GARY UNMARRIED). I am 100% in love with the show already. Check out the trailer and tell us what you think? Are you in?
