I don’t know what you all are doing tonight, but I know what I’m up to. Hanging out with my cousins and counting down to midnight. Like every other year, we’ll have Dick Clark’s New Year’s Rockin’ Eve on as we drink some champagne and celebrate the end to an amazing 2008 and the start of what should be an even better 2009.
Kellie Pickler, the country darling from American Idol’s 2006 Season, is this year’s Times Square correspondent and she spent some time telling us why she’s excited and what to expect tonight and in the New Year!
Sounds like creative and budgetary reasons are opening a door (to the exit) for PRIVILEGED’s Michael Cassidy. The perennial second-banana is heading out of Palm Beach for school out west, and by the 15th episode, Megan’s (soulmate in my opinion) and best friend is headed for the door.
Rina Mimoun promises plenty of kisses for our boy before he leaves, and says that if Season 2 is a go, she hopes Michael heads back to the show!
On ABC’s new special REDISCOVERED, ABC is teaming up with Matt Casella, the man credited with discovering the likes of Britney Spears and Justin Timberlake back in the day of THE MICKEY MOUSE CLUB (the new version) to present 5 lucky people who weren’t “discovered” then with the chance of performing in front of a live studio audience. These every day men and women compete for a grand prize of $50,000 and a special guest from the hosts of the show, the incomparable Donny and Marie Osmond.
I had a dream come true the opportunity to speak with Donny about the show, and he gave me some great reasons why you should watch ABC’s REDISCOVERED, and reasons why people should never give up on their dreams.
Tell us about REDISCOVERED. I’ve gotten to see about three minutes of the show in clips and I’m already excited about watching it. Yeah, it’s a cool concept isn’t it? When ABC called Marie and myself and told us the concept, I got it immediately, and thought, “This is great. Thank God Matt Casella kept all those tapes!” Because, as I’m sure you’ve read the information on it, there were hundreds of thousands of kids, so there’s a lot of talent out there. The talent pool is huge. So if they pick it up as a series, there are some talented kids out there that could have been the next Justin Timberlake or Britney.
Happy Holidays! ‘Tis the season to talk about holiday TV. Rae, Jason and I come up with a few of our favorite holiday episodes of TV shows plus other holiday specials we watch year to year. Then we all pick one TV family we’d like to spend the holidays with and no one’s surprised by my choice. Then it’s right onto primetime with some talk of the most recent episodes of Dexter, Californication, Chuck, The Big Bang Theory, The Mentalist, Pushing Daisies, and Life. Plus, we answer a question from a listener and sing Christmas carols. It’s our final episode of 2008 and it’s blooperific!
We’re taking the next three weeks off but we’ll be back in 2009 with our predictions for the TV year ahead. Give our listener line a call at 213-985-3176 or email us if you’ve got a prediction for 2009 that you’d like to share.
Enjoy this bonus edition of our regular TVx3 podcast in which Amrie and Rae take a break to talk about their reality TV.
It’s finale in network reality TV-land and we’ve got plenty to say about the final leg of The Amazing Race and the final Tribal Council on Survivor: Gabon. Did our favorites win? What’d we think of how everything went down? Listen and find out. Plus, we catch up on the past few weeks of Top Chef and a mention of Amrie’s recent interview with Donny Osmond about his new show Rediscovered reminds Rae of run-in she had with the Osmond family at an airport once. We also talk a bit about Howie Mandel’s new show Howie Do It and the finale of Scream Queens. And, ummm, stick around to the end for a special holiday “treat” from us.
Want to share your thoughts on the finales of The Amazing Race and Survivor? Or is there a reality show you think we should be watching? Give our listener line a call at 213-985-3176 to share.
As new TV winds down for the year, we take a look at the winter months ahead and what shows will be premiering in January and February including our brief thoughts on the upcoming seasons of Nip/Tuck, Damages, Scrubs, Lost, Dollhouse, and more. We also talk a little bit about NBC’s decision to put Leno on every night at 10PM as well as the Golden Globe nominations. Then we wrap up with our thoughts on Dexter, Chuck, Boston Legal, Leverage, House, Pushing Daisies, and Life.
Next week we’ll be chatting about our favorite holiday episodes and season specials. Give our listener line a call at 213-985-3176 or email us if there’s an episode you love and we’ll include your thoughts in our next episode.
LOST’s season 5 official cast picture is making the rounds. What do you think about this?
Some things worth noting - No Frank, No Claire (but we knew that was coming), Charlotte is in the picture even though she’s not an official series regular. There’s no Jin, but I refuse to believe that’s because he died. He isn’t dead, no sir, no way.
I’m so excited for the season premiere – what’s your take?
The first of many open casting calls around the country is this weekend in Anaheim - more dates will be coming, but they’re not finalized yet. Think you have what it takes to SURVIVE A JAPANESE GAME SHOW? Check it out after the jump!
It’s not often I get drawn into a TV show, especially a reality show, based on the trailer alone, but I am totally stoked for A&E’s new show MANHUNTERS: FUGITIVE TASK FORCE.
