If there’s one thing you can do for me tonight folks, it’s tune into the spectacular third episode of LOST’s 5th season. Small spoiler alert – tonight’s episode deals mainly with the goings-on on the island and our favorite off-islander not in the Oceanic 6 (Desmond). Questions are answered while more are, obviously, raised! Follow the jump for a small spoiler-ish breakdown! Read the rest of this entry »

Sam Anderson talks LEVERAGE and LOST
I recently had the chance to chat with the incomparable Sam Anderson, the character actor that you know from just about every TV show in the last 30 years. He currently plays Bernard Nadler on LOST and is guest starring in an episode of LEVERAGE, airing tonight on TNT. He plays a character who does some dastardly deeds, and ends up getting scammed by Nate and the team. We spoke for over ten minutes, and he just seems like one of the most down to earth actors I’ve talked to in a long time.
Here is a little excerpt from the interview that is running over on partner site theTVAddict:
Tell me about your role on LEVERAGE. I’m loving this show and am so I’m excited to see you on it.
Sam Anderson: Oh, good, because I love it too. It’s very, very different from my role on LOST for sure. I play a very ruthless contractor, major contractor, who with my 2 sons, go into disaster areas, like Hurricane Katrina, offer to rebuild people’s houses or fix them or do whatever needs to be done, and never do the work. And when they refuse to pay, I remind them of their contract which has a lien on their property if they don’t pay, we take their property, we kick them out, and we move on.What attracted you to this role?
Well, I love Dean Devlin. I love Tony Bill who is the director and it was so different from what I do on LOST that I just thought “Oh how much fun could this be?!” Also, just the underlying issue of that, even though there’s a lot of this that’s very funny. The underlying story is that there certainly are a lot of ruthless people in the world, and we’ve heard a lot about them in the news recently. I love seeing that. I love seeing that, even if it’s fiction, I love seeing them get their comeuppance.

TVx3 E014: In Which Amrie is Hilarious
We’re back with a new episode and this time we actually talk about some news like George Clooney returning to ER, the delay of the digital switchover, and the possibility of a Veronica Mars movie. Then we go over what’s coming up in February from shows that are returning to those that are premiering. And, finally, we finish up with talk about the latest episodes of The L Word, United States of Tara, Fringe, Leverage, Lost, Lie to Me, and Burn Notice. Also, I am hilarious. Or so I claim.
We’re not sure what topic we’ll be tackling next week so, if you’ve got an idea for us, give our listener line a call at 213-985-3176 or email us with your ideas and/or questions.
Check us out at iTunes or listen right here.
Don’t forget BATTLESTAR GALACTICA tonight!
Don’t forget to tune to tonight’s episode! Ronald D Moore directed the episode called “A Disquiet Follows My Soul” and I’m sure we’re in for another exciting, depressing, and headscratching hour of TV!
Along with BSG, I’m checking out FRIDAY NIGHT LIGHTS, PSYCH, and MONK before sleeping! What about you?
Matt Nix talks BURN NOTICE
In anticipation of BURN NOTICE’s mid-season premiere tonight on USA, I had the chance to listen in to a conference call with one of my favorite people, creator Matt Nix. He’s so relaxed and always funny, whether he means to be or not – I love getting a peak into the mind of a TV writer. Read on to hear what Matt has to say about this season, next season, and everything in between!
The first question I had for you, what does the success of a show like this mean to you as a show runner? What does it mean to have a show that’s so successful and so, I guess, just well received by the audience?
Well, I guess in terms of the job, the sort of day-to-day of it, not much actually. I find, like I sort of – you know, people ask me, like, how has your life changed? And really it’s sort of, I come into the office every day, and then I work for a really long time, and then I go home. But I mean the truth is, it was always a really fun process, and it still is. But really, like, kind of the best thing about it is all of your friends from high school call you.
And just all the people getting in touch with you and, you know, I think that for a lot of people on the show, oddly and nobody expected this, but everybody comments on it and how kind of weirdly unexpected and mildly spooky it is. Everybody says to us, oh, your show is the only show that my daughter watches with her grandmother or – its people have this sort of family thing about it, and in a funny kind of way, that’s the most gratifying because it’s totally not something we expected, and having it well received in that way, I don’t know. It’s not like I sat down to do a family spy show, but I guess it turned out that way. Read the rest of this entry »
Happy LOST-day!
It’s a beautiful day, folks! At long last, LOST is making it’s triumphant return to ABC’s primetime lineup (I mean, to be fair, it’s only been gone for about 7 months, but it seems like forever)! And I could not be more excited!
I had the chance to screen the first three episodes of this upcoming 5th season, and I am so excited to say that this show is running full steam ahead towards its 2010 series finale with guns blazing. In the first two hours alone, there are revelations, some answers to questions we’ve had for a while now, some awesome gun fights, a Shirtless Sawyer, the (sometimes incredibly shocking to the point where you find your jaw on the floor for two seconds) return of familiar faces, and plenty of “oh now, what the hell?” type of moments that the writers throw at us!
The opening act of the premiere is familiar in the way it involves a record player and a few familiar faces. From there, the show spirals out of control in the best way possible so that by the end, you sit thinking “Wait a minute, what did I just see?” I don’t want to give too much away, but do a little following of the jump and see some of my favorite things from these episodes that are a little spoilerific – Read the rest of this entry »
TVx3 E013: A Lot of Nothing to Say
Happy New Year, Everyone! After an extended vacation from podcasting, we’re back! Jason, Rae, and I catch you up on what we did over the holidays and then talk about our TV resolutions and/or goals for 2009 which may include trying to stop watching shows when we aren’t enjoying them and to be spoiler-free. Plus we make some predictions for the year ahead including what shows we think people will like, what shows we think will disappear after May, and what networks should be doing to prepare for the future. We wrap up with some chit chat about primetime. Shows covered this episode include Psych, 24, How I Met Your Mother, Privileged, Leverage, and Grey’s Anatomy.
Next week we’re tackling the second part of our Mid-Season Preview, this time going over shows premiering in March and April. As always, you can give our listener line a call at 213-985-3176 or email us if you’ve got any questions or just want to share your opinion about this week or next week’s topic!

BSG: And the 5th Cylon is…
….kind of a letdown (if you haven’t watched Season 4.5’s brilliant premiere, skip this post). After watching an already depressing mid-season premiere of one of the finest shows on television, none of the people that I thought were the 5th, turned out to be the 5th.
I’m sure that Ron Moore and team have plenty up their sleeves to explain the latest turn of events. At least, that’s what I’m hoping. The interviews that I’ve read with Ron say that this idea came to him at least 2 years ago, and that he felt it was a totally natural realization that this peron (who you can find after the jump) was the final Cylon, but I feel almost like it’s a bit reaching.
The episode was otherwise amazing, with one of my favorite characters taking a trip to visit the Gods, if you catch my drift, and another one totally losing her marbles over something she finds on Earth. I think we’re in for an amazing Final season, what about you? After the jump, the Cylon revealed: Read the rest of this entry »
It’s a stay home kind of Friday!
So here I am, battling 5 degree weather (my apologies to my pals in other places suffering from negative-degree weather – that’s just sick), and I am more excited than ever to go home after a long day at the office, pop some popcorn, and curl up on the couch to watch some of the best TV ever made. Why’s that? Because two of my favorite shows return tonight and I could not be happier!
Up first, at 9, reappearing on the NBC schedule after almost a year (and a rather successful 13 week season on DirecTV), FRIDAY NIGHT LIGHTS is back! And from everything I’ve heard, it’s solid and beautiful and moving and sad and happy and thrilling and every other word you can think to describe this amazing show. I’m trying not to sell it too big, because I don’t want to go over the top, but this show literally makes me laugh and cry in every single episode, and I cannot wait to see what my “friends” in Dillon have been up to in their absence. Like I told Brains yesterday, have no fear – we are seeing the same 13 episodes that the DirecTV subscribers saw. We’re just seeing them a few months later!
I implore you, watch this show. Even if you’ve never seen it before, I promise you’ll love it. There are some shows that “aren’t for everybody” but there’s a show like FRIDAY NIGHT LIGHTS that was meant for everybody and then some. It’s so real, so raw, you’ll be hooked!
