Last week, I had a chance to listen into some of my favorites fellow bloggers and critics chat with the lovely Emily Deschanel in support of the last few episodes of a really great season of BONES. She let the spoilers start flying almost immediately, so follow the jump for a really great read about what’s to come! Read the rest of this entry »

TVx3 E026: It’s Not You, It’s the Show. Or, Is it?
This week, Rae was off camping, so we had on a guest host to talk about the week in TV. Myles McNutt from Cultural Learnings and the new McNuttCast joined us for what turned out to be a rather lengthy, but really fun, discussion.
We started things off with some news about Kings, The Tudors, Army Wives, Project Runway, the SAG negotiations, Who Wants to Be a Millionaire, and The New Adventures of Old Christine.
Then we moved on to the topic of TV shows in decline and whether they actually are or we just think they are. Shows discussed included Grey’s Anatomy, The Office, and Heroes.
After talking show declines, we moved on to our primetime wrap-up, where we talked about Chuck, Greek, Fringe, My Boys, The Office, Parks & Recreation, and 30 Rock.
Next time all three of us (Jason, Rae, and I) will be back together again and we’d like to hear from you. So, if you’ve got thoughts on past episodes, this episode, or have a topic suggestion for us, use the SnapVine widget in the right column, leave a comment below, email us, or connect via Twitter.
As always, find us at the site here or on iTunes (and be sure to leave us some feedback)!![]()
Unsub with a heart of gold? Alex O’Loughlin talks CRIMINAL MINDS
Alex O’Loughlin has survived the unfortunate demise of his cult favorite CBS series MOONLIGHT, and is moving on. One of the consistently good parts of that sometimes wobbly show, it was only a matter of time before O’Loughlin was snapped up for a million other things. Currently awaiting the fate of his pilot THREE RIVERS, with Julia Ormond (about a team of organ transplant surgeons, based on real life Dr. Gonzalo Gonzales-Stawinski), borne out of a development deal with CBS, Alex is guesting on tonight’s CRIMINAL MINDS, starring as Vincent, the unsub who you can’t help but feel a little bit sorry for! I had the chance to chat with Alex last week about tonight’s episode, what he hopes you get from his portrayal of a disturbed man, and what he hopes for his fans in the future!
I had the chance change to watch your episode of CRIMINAL MINDS and I have to tell you. That show does some creepy stuff, and I mean this as a compliment, your character is super creepy!
[laughs] Well thank you, I think! [laughs] He’s a little creepy!
Where did this role come from?
Simon Mirren, the writer, and co-executive producer on the show is a friend of mine. He said, I’m writing a role with you in mind, I want you to read it, and do it. I said, Really? Okay. I read it, and I was like, this is great. I really want to do it, and talked to my agent. I was like, look, the role, blah, blah, blah. I’m talking to CBS, they said I can do it. How do you guys feel? They said, well how do you feel? I said, it’s perfect, let me do it. I mean, it’s not like “let me do it”, I make the decisions, but it’s like, they’re my team, and I want them on board with the decisions I make. You know, it’s not often I get to play these character roles; it’s not often I get to read these character roles! I hadn’t worked for like 10 months, so I thought it would be a great way to blow out the cobwebs and get ready for the pilot, and they were like, well, we’ve got your back! So I did it. I’m really glad I did it! Read the rest of this entry »
THE UNUSUALS Harold Perrineau, Part II
Last week, in time for a new episode of THE UNUSUALS, I posted the first half of a Q&A I had with series star Harold Perrineau (Banks). Tonight’s episode, called “42,” is one of Harold’s favorites, so I thought it was a good time to post the second half of our really great chat!
Now you mentioned that you hadn’t done a lighter comedic side of things in a while. Was it a conscious effort to stick to the more dramatic roles, like on OZ, and with Michael on LOST?
I would have to say it was an unconscious effort. Things that I studied, and things that I know really well, I’ve been doing most of my career is drama, so when those come up, I’m really drawn towards them. Comedy’s come up a few times, and I’ve been like, I’m not really funny, so I didn’t audition for it much. The few times I did, I failed miserably. It’s like, yeah, yeah, I’m not funny. I’m very serious, I’m a very serious human being!… Read the rest of this entry »

SAVE CHUCK!
I’m feeling a bit under the weather so updates will need to happen later today. In the mean time, head on over to GMMR and read what you can do to help save CHUCK! I know that regardless of feeling like crap, I’m absolutely heading into a Subway tonight for dinner!
Jim Parsons on Letterman!
One of my favorites on TV visited Letterman last night, and here’s the video – how charmingly Sheldon is this man?
He’s on The View today, too! Don’t miss him!
Talking THE UNUSUALS with Harold Perrineau
In recent years, one of my favorite people to watch on TV has been Harold Perrineau! Michael Dawson, the man who sold out his friends to save his boy on LOST, made a huge impact on the TV landscape that his celebrated return last season was a welcome addition. Back on TV again this season, with a new show that’s gathering critical acclaim (while facing a limited audience), Harold spent some time chatting with me about what to expect, why he likes this show, why he thinks you will, and what about my movie choices make him laugh!
What drew you to this show?
I really thought it, I thought it was really, really funny, and really well-written. I hadn’t done anything like this so far, that was light and funny, but really dark, and a little strange. When they told me that Adam Goldberg was going to be doing it, I thought, yeah, I’d love to be down, so those are the things that drew me in! Read the rest of this entry »
Where have I been?
Here’s just a hint of the blogging to come as I wind down from a week in LA. Updates have been non-existant (except a bit over on Twitter) because we haven’t had internet at the hotel!
Two of my favorites stories of the week?
1. Simon Baker and I had a beer together (after The Mentalist Paley Event).
2. I hung out in the backyard of the KT house with Scott Michael Foster and Dilshad Vadsaria!
More info and details to come!
CHUCK Week: CHUCK vs. THE MUSIC
Here’s the special CHUCK Week extravaganza surprise for fellow awesome music fans (thanks Jody and Rae for the words):
If you follow us on twitter (@mytakeontv and my CHUCK week counterparts, among others, @justjody @raelee @duckydoestv @gmmr) you may have heard reference to a “Chuck soundtrack” and wondered what the heck we were talking about since there is no actual Chuck soundtrack. Well, as a long-time fan of The O.C. soundtracks, Jody waited patiently for the Chuck soundtrack to arrive. So when our good friend (and founder of Chuck week) GMMR informed us via her exclusive Josh Schwartz interview that it was not to be, she decided to take matters into her own hands. And thus the UNofficial Chuck Soundtrack was born.
Now, as a Chuck week treat, we’re offering up the chance for you to have a copy as well. We’ve provided you with the artwork and track listing, so all you have to do is put them together. The only requirement for helping yourself to a copy of the UNofficial Chuck soundtrack is that you MUST watch all three remaining episodes of Chuck this season. And for every friend you convince to watch too, you score an extra copy. (If you should decide to make it.)
(Click on the pictures to enlarge)
Here are the track listings:
Great care and thought, along with many hours of agonizing went into the selection of the songs used on the UNofficial Chuck Soundtrack. Some were chosen for the songs, but many were also chose for the scenes they were used on. We hope you enjoy it as much as we do!
And now you have your mission folks. Let’s get CHUCK a second season!!! Tell all of your friends, we need to do everything in our power to make this happen!
